After years of transformative leadership within Georgia Tech Infrastructure & Operations (I&O), Senior Director of Data Management and Automation Jimmie Hardin will depart the Institute on July 31, to accept a new position as associate vice chancellor for facilities planning and management with the University System of Georgia (USG). 

Throughout his tenure at Georgia Tech, Hardin played a pivotal role in advancing technology-driven solutions that enhanced operational efficiency, strengthened decision-making capabilities, and positioned I&O for future success. 

Under his leadership, the Data Management and Automation team expanded business process automation initiatives, modernized key components of the AiM platform, enhanced space management capabilities, and developed advanced analytics tools that support operations across the organization. 

Hardin was also instrumental in introducing robotic process automation (RPA) and other innovative technologies that streamlined workflows and improved service delivery. Among his many accomplishments, the development of an energy dashboard stands out as a significant achievement, providing campus leaders with valuable insights into infrastructure performance by bringing together data, technology, and sustainability metrics in one centralized platform. 

Known for his strategic vision and forward-thinking approach, Hardin consistently challenged colleagues to reimagine how technology could support and improve campus operations. His leadership helped foster a culture of innovation that continues to influence how I&O approaches problem-solving, process improvement, and organizational effectiveness. 

"Jimmie has been a driving force behind many of our most innovative business and technology initiatives," said Vice President Jim Stephens. "His contributions have influenced not only the systems we use, but also the way we think about leveraging technology to improve operations and better serve the Institute." 

While the Georgia Tech community will miss his expertise and leadership, Hardin leaves behind a strong foundation that will continue to support the Institute's operational and strategic goals for years to come.
