In 2024, Infrastructure & Sustainability (I&S) continued to advance Georgia Tech’s mission through strategic improvements, sustainability initiatives, and campus enhancements.


Key projects, such as the Chilled Water Distribution System Resiliency Project and the beginning of Tech Square Phase 3, contributed to operational efficiency and environmental stewardship. As we look ahead, I&S remains committed to innovation, sustainability, and creating a more resilient and user-friendly campus infrastructure.

I&S made significant progress on key construction and renovation projects aimed at enhancing campus functionality, sustainability, and resilience.

Major milestones included advancements in the Chilled Water Distribution System Resiliency Project, improvements to pedestrian pathways, and ongoing upgrades to campus infrastructure to support long-term growth.

Tech Square Phase 3 Begins

The 18-story George Tower will be the new home for the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering.

Work begins for the Student-Athlete Performance Center.

The 100,000-square-foot facility will serve as a state-of-the-art hub for Georgia Tech student-athletes.
 

Curran Street Residence Hall

Work begins on the first new residence hall built on campus in 20 years.

Improvements to Chilled Water Distribution System

This project will result in an improved, more resilient campus.
 

Work continues on D.M. Smith for School of Public Policy

The building’s infrastructure will be upgraded, adding wheelchair access, an elevator, and new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Paving the Way for Pedestrians, Bikers, and More!

This year marked significant strides in campus improvements, making Georgia Tech a safer and more accessible place to live, learn, and work. One of the standout achievements was the opening of the northern arc of the cycle track, providing the Georgia Tech community with a safe and convenient micromobility route across campus.
