Five trees are in the process of being removed throughout the campus. These removals will be complete by the end of October. Managing our campus trees and the urban forest that they create is a responsibility that is taken very seriously by the Georgia Tech Landscape Services team. We are always sad to have to remove failing trees, but all are replaced, per caliper inch, according to our Tree Management Plan.

- (2) Water Oaks at Van Lear planter, SW corner will be removed due to trunk failure near the root zone of one tree and fungus on a second tree, as well as root restriction,.
- A 34-inch caliper Post Oak that was located at the transit hub on the south side of the Student Center was removed on Sept. 19.
- The 82-inch caliper Eastern Cottonwood at The Historic Academy of Medicine has reached the end of its life and will be removed later this fall.
- A 42-inch caliper Willow Oak located next to the Corliss Pump gathering area in Harrison Square was not thriving for the past two years. The tree was removed on Sept. 19.
